The Marek Circle of British Naive Painters 1955-85
23 March 2015 - 29 March 2015

Jerzy Marek also known as George Murray (1925-2014) spent decades building his outstanding collection of naive art from Britain and Poland as well as being a prominent naive artist himself.

Murray arrived in Britain in 1948 from Poland and settled in the North of England where he worked as a civil engineer. Here he discovered and nurtured a wealth of artistic talent which became known as The Marek Circle. All the artists were self-taught and shared a naive style. Together they exhibited during the 1960's to the 80's in the North of England, London and Switzerland. Several of the artists are represented in public galleries and feature in prominent private collections.

The Julian Hartnoll Gallery is proud to present for sale 40 paintings from the collection from 15 British artists. Prices range from £250-1200
